QUESTION: My 2004 S60’s sunroof stopped working two weeks ago. Tried it today and it opened about 1″ and now it won’t open or close. I read it maybe alarm system related, I did get a message recently saying to have my alarm system checked. Does this make sense? is there anyway to manually close the sunroof until I get it in the shop? AAA had to recently open the car due to keys being locked in it. Could this have screwed up the alarm system?
Thank you in advance for you reply.
ANSWER: Brian,
Pull off the panel over the button and look for the motor. That motor should have a slot for a screw driver that you can close the roof. As for the power fault yes there might be an issue with the alarm. The cars needs to be tested for faults and power to the fused for the sun roof.

QUESTION: Ray, I did pull off the cover and looked for the slot but I did not find one. Is there a chance this car does not have that option or do I need to look harder?

After some research into Vehicles i understand that many developments are being made to cars and fuels in order to make them Eco friendly. I’m not sure how much you know about this this any ideas on how this is happening and any said developments will be much appreciated.
I hope you can help me and any ideas you have will be invaluable.
Kindest regards

My A/C clutch motor wasn’t engaging so I used a jumper wire directly to it and it works. All my fuses seem to have power on both sides. Pulled the relay and jumper wired that, clutch engaged and worked great again. It appeared to be the relay, nope. Put in a new relay and still not working. What drives the relay? Any ideas, as to where to next? Oh BTW, one of those $20 cans of freon with the cheesy meter says I’m slightly overcharged, how did that happen? I’d appreciate any thoughts you might have.

While driving my 2004 Volvo V70 (normal speed/road conditions etc) the warning light “rear left door open” came on and the wipers went on once. I pulled over and checked the door (have 3 children in the back row) but it was closed. I kept driving. About a half mile later, same message and wipers went on again once, together with all the inside lights. I slowed down a little. Then the message came “brake failure” and 30 sec. later all the lights went out, inside the dashboard, the headlights, etc. I used the breaks, went to 10 m/h speed. No strange noises etc. I stopped, turned off the engine. Started the car again and got the message: “SRS airbag, urgent service”
I was able to drive to car back home, still with the last message and a orange light (not red anymore)
Any idea what this is/was/might have cost this problem? Any idea about a solution?
Thank you!

good day ray
i hope you had an enjoyable vacation. i have a 1997 volvo 960 with 72000 miles on it. the engine light recently started to go on and off, i then drove the car from san francisco to riverside california, about 432 miles. about 300 miles into the trip the light came on, and stayed on. still no problem, but then about 50 miles further a minor accident occurred in front of me stopping traffic for about 15 minutes, the car started running hot, pegged into the red. i decided to pull off, then traffic started, and dial went to the half-way point, and stayed for the rest of the trip. a few days later i drove the car about 5 miles, it ran hotter than usual, but never went it to the red until i stopped at a traffic light, even then the needle would oscillate from hot to out of the red, then i would take off, and the needle would go back to near the midpoint, but still slightly higher than normal. stop at the next light process repeats. i got home popped the hood, no signs of leakage, and no visible signs or sounds of overheating. the engine, nor the hood was hot, no sizzling or gulping sounds nothing, except the fan would stay on for 10-15 minutes after engine was off. did a obd check , it reads p0303 misfire in cylinder 3. any ideas? i want to keep it running. it’s twelve years old, with only 72k miles, and rides like on air. thanks you very much.

Brand new cars have had some serious problems and have been recalled at almost record numbers. Does this mean that proven used vehicles might be the safest?

My husband just got a new job in Texas. Me and my 4 year old moved in with my mother to save a little bit of money. (and to add to this I’m pregnant with our second child…due July 3, 2009 and moving down there in August). My husband wants to buy a new car in NM….and his brother would even co-sign. They told my husband his brother has to be in person for it. I don’t understand. If the car dealerships are hurting so bad then why can’t they work with another GM dealership or bank with his brother so they can make a sale? It just doesn’t make any since to me. If anyone can help I am asking you to please do…..We are in a tough situation and just trying to get out of this glitch that we’re in.
Thank you.
